It is mostly hard to really explain certain things to children without confusing them. Tell me why I’m teaching the children service about faith and I’m struggling with differentiating between faith and believe?
We were using the story of Anna the prophetess because we believe it is only faith that made her wait all those years for the promise of God. So I asked the children; what do you think made Anna wait for the promise of God for so many years? That was when one young lady said; ‘ the spirit of faith entered Anna’.
The spirit of FAITH? Then I wondered when did faith become a spirit that enters people?
To be frank, I’ve never thought of faith as a spirit that can enter someone but then her statement made sense. The bible says faith “cometh” by hearing(2 Corinthians 5:7). If faith comes then it could definitely be a spirit, and if it is a spirit that enters then it can leave too.
The child opened my eyes to see faith from a different perspective.
Prophetess Anna was filled with the spirit of faith because she may have attracted it. She may have attracted it by her works. What were her works?
According to Luke 2:36-38
1.She believed what God had said concerning the coming of the messiah
2. She hoped to be alive to withness it.
3. She prayed and fasted while waiting for the messiah.
4. She stayed in the house of God while waiting for it.
5. She basically lived her life waiting for the messiah.
Honestly we may all need this spirit of faith to enter us and after that we must make sure we do not drive it away when it comes because we all need this kind of faith to be able to live for God.
