One thing I’m definitely adding to my New Year’s resolutions is to become a vessel of prayer—a person who prays.
I’ve learned that one reason I call someone my best friend is because I talk to them often and for long hours. In our conversations, I share what’s happening in my life and how I truly feel. I let them into my world, and in doing so, our bond grows deeper.
In the same way, I want to grow closer to God, and I want Him to know me. I desire to be known by God as His friend. That means talking to Him more and also taking time to listen. This is what prayer is—communication with God. Just as communication with a friend draws us closer, prayer draws us closer to God.
I encourage you to add this to your New Year’s resolutions: to be known as a person of prayer, and even more importantly, to be known by God.
