Identity

I Am A Child of God. 2

You know you are God’s child,

but sometimes, your circumstances speak louder than your identity.

A failure happens, and suddenly you see yourself as a failure. Someone rejects you, and you begin to feel unwanted.

You compare yourself with someone else, and you conclude that you are not enough. You don’t achieve what you hoped for, and your confidence disappears.

But your circumstances do not get to rename you. Your failures do not get to rename you. People do not get to rename you. God has already spoken about who you are. You are His child.

And if being someone’s child can carry significance in this world, how much more should being a child of God mean to us?

The problem is not that we lack value.Sometimes, the problem is that we have not learned to see the value of what we already have.

Understanding What It Means to Be a Child of God

What does it actually mean to be God’s child? It means you belong to Him. It means you have been brought into a relationship with the Father through Christ.

It means your identity is no longer something you have to manufacture for yourself.

You don’t have to spend your entire life trying to prove that you are valuable.

Think about children who grow up knowing they are deeply loved by their parents. Their sense of security often comes from knowing, “I belong here. I am loved here. I am wanted here.” Now consider the magnitude of knowing:

I belong to God.

I am loved by God.

I am wanted by God.

I am known by God.

That should do something to you. It should change the way you approach life.
