I am a child of God!
Have you ever stopped to think about what those words really mean?
Not just saying them because you are a Christian. Not repeating them because you have heard them in church. But actually stopping long enough to let the weight of those words settle in your heart:
What if that truth was enough to change the way you see yourself? What if knowing whose child you are could give you the confidence you have been trying to find in people’s approval, your achievements, your possessions, your appearance, your career, or your status?
I am a child of God and that is enough.
Think about how much it can mean to be the child of someone important in our world.
If you discovered that you were the child of a king, wouldn’t that change something about how you see yourself?
You would know that you have access to something you didn’t create for yourself. You would know that you belong somewhere significant. You would carry a certain confidence because of who your father is.
Yet many of us know that we are God’s children without understanding the significance of it.
We have the identity, but we don’t live from it.
And perhaps that is why we keep looking everywhere else for what God has already given us in our identity.
