One thing that sets God apart and makes Him stand above all else is His holiness. It is not just something He has — it is who He is.
The Bible says, “There is none holy like the Lord” (1 Samuel 2:2). His holiness is the foundation of His being. It is why He is just, perfect, and completely pure. Scripture tells us that He dwells in unapproachable light (1 Timothy 6:16). There is no darkness in Him at all.
Because God is holy, He cannot tolerate sin. Habakkuk 1:13 says His eyes are too pure to look on evil. He cannot stand sin. His holiness makes Him glorious and even fearsome.
Yet, this is where His love shines. God sent Christ to make a way for us. As 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, Jesus became sin for us so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. Through Christ, we are made holy — set apart for God.
And this is the call: “Be holy, because I am holy” (1 Peter 1:16).
God is not asking us to simply admire His holiness. He is calling us to walk in it daily — in our thoughts, choices, and actions — until the day Christ returns and we are made perfect in Him.
Holiness is not optional for those who desire to walk with God. It is the path that leads us closer to His heart. And the beautiful truth is this: the One who calls you is also the One who makes you able.
