Zoe: The God Kind of Life
A few weeks ago, I found myself thinking about something very simple but very deep: what really is life?
Most of us would answer that question easily. Being alive means you can breathe. You can move. You can think. You can grow. Your body functions the way it should. In other words, life on earth means existing and expressing the basic characteristics of life.
And that was exactly what we talked about last week—physical life.
Physical life is the life we experience here on earth. It is the ability to carry out biological functions like breathing, growing, moving, thinking, and reproducing. As long as these processes are active in the body, we say someone is alive.
But as I reflected on this, another thought came to my mind.
Is that all there is to life?
Is life simply about existing physically on earth until the day our bodies stop functioning?
The Bible reveals something deeper. It shows us that beyond physical life, there is another kind of life—a higher life.
The Bible calls this life Zoe.
What Is Zoe?
The word Zoe comes from the Greek language used in the New Testament, and it describes the life that comes from God Himself.
This is not ordinary life.
It is not the life that simply keeps your heart beating or your lungs breathing.
Zoe is the God kind of life.
It is a life that goes beyond the physical realm. It transcends what we see in this natural world and connects us to the spiritual realm where God operates.
Jesus spoke about this life in John 10:10 when He said:
“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
The word Jesus used for life here is Zoe.
He was not just promising people a better physical life. He was offering something much greater—the very life of God.
Zoe Is Eternal
One of the most powerful things about Zoe is that it is eternal.
Our physical life has limits. One day, every human body will grow weak and eventually die. That is simply the reality of life on earth.
But Zoe is different.
Zoe does not end.
The Bible says in John 3:16:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
That everlasting life is Zoe.
It is the life God gives to those who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
Zoe ; Living the Supernatural Life
Here is something beautiful many believers sometimes overlook: Zoe is not only for heaven.
It begins the moment a person receives Christ.
1 John 5:11–12 says:
“And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life.”
That means if you have Jesus, you already have Zoe.
And because of that, you can live what the Bible calls the supernatural life even while you are still here on earth.
You may still wake up, go to work, study, run a business, or take care of your family—but inside you is a different kind of life.
It is the life of God working in you.
It is a life where God leads you, strengthens you, and empowers you to live beyond your natural limitations.
We Are Living the Zoe; God kind of life
At the end of the day, this is the life every believer is called to experience.
We are not just people trying to survive on earth. Through Christ, we have been given access to the very life of God.
And that life changes everything.
It changes how we think.
It changes how we live.
It changes how we see our purpose.
Because when Zoe is at work in you, your life is no longer just natural—it becomes supernatural.
So then believers don’t just have life, they have the God kind of life
